Our Unique Environment

We have worked extremely hard over the years to create and improve our wildlife habitat using natural products from around our lake. You will be able to see Dead Hedges, Brash Piles and Log Piles carefully situated around the lake.

Dead Hedges & Brash piles

In nature, dead sticks, logs, and leaves teem with life – they’re as much a part of the ecosystem as the flowers, leaves, and new growth we prize.

A dead hedge is an upright structure of woody cuttings woven between vertical stakes. They provide a tangled maze and a perfect hideaway for birds such as Blackbirds, Robins, Wren and Dunnocks to nest and forage within.

Putting together log piles around the site creates villages for all things creepy and crawly. In turn, this busy community will attract birds, hedgehogs and frogs looking to snack on a tasty morsel.
